Houston NORML Events in October

We’re proud to announce that we have several exciting events coming up in the month of October. Our August fundraiser at Dan Electro’s focused on political activism and was so successful that we decided to hold our next fundraiser at Dan Electro’s on Halloween night. In addition, we’re hosting a Meet and Greet with special guest speaker Kim Ogg on Friday, Oct. 10th at Cafe Adobe.

Join us on Friday, October 10th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm for a meet and greet with special guest speaker Kim Ogg. This event will include FREE food for those in attendance!

Kim Ogg served as a prosecutor for the Harris County District Attorney from 1986 – 1994, where she served as a Chief Felony Prosecutor. She was appointed by Mayor Bob Lanier as the City of Houston’s first Anti-Gang Task Force Director in 1994. From 1999 – 2006, Kim was the Executive Director of Crime Stoppers. In 2006, Kim transitioned to private legal practice and is currently the Managing Partner of the Ogg Law Firm, PLLC, a boutique litigation firm fighting for the rights of families, individuals accused of crimes, and police officers and citizens whose civil rights have been violated.

Kim Ogg is currently the Democratic nominee for Harris County District Attorney. She is a native Houstonian; licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 1987; and board certified as a specialist in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1992.

Get ready for a smoking good time! It’s an outrageous tongue-in-cheek musical comedy inspired by the classic 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film. Madness arises when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral.

The production runs from September 25 – October 5 and you can use the promo code to purchase tickets to ANY of the showings. The Thursday, Oct. 2 showing will include a post-show panel discussion for “Law & Order Night” with a panel of Houston’s judges, lawyers, and law enforcement as they discuss whether citizens of Harris County should go to jail for possessing marijuana.

Panelists include: Judge Sherman Ross – Judge of County Criminal Court 10; Judge Michael McSpadden – 209th District Court; Dr. Teresa May, Director Harris County CSCD; Ted Oberg – Reporter, Channel 13; Kim Ogg – Democratic candidate for DA; Joel Androphy, moderator.
