Houston NORML’s mission is to move public opinion sufficiently through open and honest conversation to legalize the responsible use of marijuana by adults and to educate and inform the public of the benefits of cannabis and the dangers of prohibition.
We are the Houston chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws which is a non-profit organization, 501(c)(4), dedicated to educating the public about marijuana and lobbying for as change in local, state and federal law.
Our goals are to move public opinion in Texas sufficiently to reform marijuana laws and provide a voice, in the public policy debate, for responsible marijuana consumers, patients, and those who support reform. We provide resources to Texans who oppose marijuana prohibition and support ending the practice of arresting marijuana consumers.
We do not advocate the breaking of any laws, only the reform of unjust marijuana related laws.
Houston NORML originated in 1989 with founders Rick Potthoff and Richard Lee. We have been active in many educational events to inform the public about the harms associated with the prohibition of marijuana.
