Ms. T. Watson - Secretary

Ms. T. Watson

After watching a History channel documentary on “Illegal Drugs: How They got that Way”, Ms. T. was intrigued with Mr. Keith Stroup’s determination and drive to legalize marijuana in the U.S. and in 2007, she became a member of NORML. As soon as she discovered there was a Houston chapter, she immediately attended the monthly meetings and soon became an active member of Houston chapter of NORML.

It was hard for Ms. T. to contain her composure, when she had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Keith Stroup, at a “Legalize Texas 2015” event, of which, Houston NORML presented.

As a brain aneurysm survivor, Ms. T. has learned, about the medicinal properties of cannabinoids (e.g., THC & CBD) which are the chemical compounds that provide relief, too many symptoms such as pain, nausea, and inflammation. Cannabinoids basically imitate compounds our bodies naturally produce, called endocannabinoids, which activate to maintain internal stability and health.

Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief — particularly of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage) — nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia. Emerging research suggests that marijuana’s medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors and are neuroprotective.
